It is a newer product derived from the increasing production of dimethyl carbonate (DMC) and lithium-ion batteries. Due to its combination of methyl and ethyl groups, it exhibits the characteristics of both dimethyl carbonate and diethyl carbonate. It is also used as a solvent for specialty fragrances and intermediates.
